E-911 Address

E911 Communication Supervisor/Administrator -
John Davis
701 Mountain Lake Avenue in the 911 building.

Bryan Reed is responsible for addressing new structures in the County.

Currently:
Giles County is now Phase I & II wireless compliant.

Phase I wireless means that we are accepting wireless 911 calls and the ALI (Automatic Location Identification) information is displayed on our 911 screen.  In Phase I, the only information that we receive from the wireless calls is the sector of the cellular tower that the 911 call is received on.

Phase II of the wireless portion will include a Mapping Display System which will give the exact location of the wireless caller and the Dispatcher will be able to view this on a map of that area. Giles County is in the process of completing the Phase II compliance at this time.

To get a 911 address, the following steps need to be taken in this order:

1. Obtain Building Permit, Zoning and Health Department Requirements

2. The Building Inspector’s office will make a site visit to obtain the proper coordinates on the footers of the new structure.

3. This information is forwarded to the GIS and 911 Supervisor’s office to take the necessary steps for completion of the 911 address.

4. The 911 Supervisor assigns the correct address and the GIS technician will update the county map to reflect this address.
