Gunpowder Springs - The campground is adjacent to the Eggleston 2 boat ramp. Campfires are premitted at this site along with RV's. There are approximately 50 sites, and all sites have water and lighting available with some street lights around. The fee to camp here is $15 a day, $75 a month, or $900 year. There are bathrooms (outhouses) available. Although there are no signs directing you to the campground, it is on the other hand easy to find. New River Park Campground - (540) 626-7361 Newport. Adjacent to the boat ramp. Campfires are permitted. There is water, but it is not drinkable. RV hookups are available. Electricity and bathrooms.
Directions: Go to Newport and turn on to Spruce Run. At the end of the road turn left onto Goodwins Ferry Road. About a half mile later turn right on to New River Park Lane. Contact Information:

Whitt-Riverbend Park - Restrooms, easy access to river. Shelter, open pit camp fires allowed.

Walnut Flats Campground
6 remote sites, small pond, hunting, fishing, hiking, AT, horseback riding
(bring your own horse). Up 201 off County 606, off Hwy 42, off Route 100 outside
Pearisburg. Primitive.
Falls of Dismal
An easy hike to multi-tiered waterfall on Dismal Creek - a stocked trout stream.

White Pines

Appalachian Trail
50 miles of this famed walking route runs through Giles Couty and Pearisburg, where
many hikers tarry for supplies, mail, rest and communication.
Angels Rest Overlook
AT hike, 1.5 miles each way, moderate and sleep, great views. Route 793 off Route 100 off
U.S. 460 outside Pearisburg.
War Spur & Wind Rock Trails
Sweeping wilderness views of mountains and valleys, wildflowers, giant ferns and virgin
evergreen stands. Easy to moderate trails, 1-4 mile options. Past Mountain Lake off County

Camp Success
Camp Success is adjacent to a boat ramp. Camp fires are permitted here. They do not have a fresh water source or any outside lighting. Rv's, campers, 4-wheelers, or motorcycles allowed on the campgrond. There are 40 sites at Camp Success. There is no fee to visit Camp Success. They do have Bathrooms on the campground.
